PHOENIX (July 13, 2023) — The Arizona Coyotes have signed forward Alex Galchenyuk to a one-year, $775,000 contract. The deal includes a signing bonus of $775,000 and makes Galchenyuk an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2023-24 season.
Galchenyuk, 29, is a versatile player who can play left wing, center, and right wing. He has 10 seasons of NHL experience with the Montreal Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, and Ottawa Senators. In 577 career games, he has recorded 122 goals and 220 assists for 342 points.
Last season, Galchenyuk played 26 games for the Coyotes and recorded 5 goals and 6 assists. He was acquired by Arizona at the trade deadline from the Senators in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
Galchenyuk's signing is a low-risk, high-reward move for the Coyotes. He is a talented player who can provide depth to their lineup and contribute in multiple ways. If he can stay healthy and produce at a similar level as he did last season, he could be a valuable asset to Arizona's young team.
