Montreal, Quebec – The Montreal Canadiens have selected Alex Galchenyuk with the third overall pick in the first round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Galchenyuk, a 6'1", 205-pound center, is considered one of the top prospects in this year's draft. He is a highly skilled offensive player with excellent playmaking ability and a good shot.

Galchenyuk is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and played for the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) this past season. In 68 games, he recorded 31 goals and 57 assists for 88 points. He also added 11 points in 14 playoff games.
