The Boston Celtics took a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals on Thursday night with a 108-105 victory over the Golden State Warriors.
Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with 30 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Marcus Smart added 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Steph Curry struggled for the Warriors, shooting just 7-for-22 from the field.
The Celtics led by as many as 15 points in the fourth quarter, but the Warriors fought back to cut the lead to just one point with 24.8 seconds remaining. However, Tatum hit a jumper with 12.1 seconds left to give the Celtics a 108-105 lead. The Warriors had a chance to tie the game, but Curry's three-point attempt bounced off the rim.
The Celtics will now look to take a 2-0 lead in the series when they host the Warriors in Game 2 on Sunday night.
