Toll-by-Plate and SunPass Required on Sunshine Skyway Bridge

Elevated Toll Roads Connecting I-275 Open

Effective July 1st, 2022, the toll rate for passenger cars to drive across the Sunshine Skyway Bridge will increase to $150. Tolls can be paid with cash or SunPass.

Starting May 3rd, drivers will no longer be able to pay tolls with cash. They will be required to use either SunPass or toll-by-plate.

The $600 million project also includes the addition of express lanes on I-275 and elevated toll roads connecting the interstate.

As of noon Friday, April 26, 2024, the Gateway Express toll roads and the tolled I-275 express lanes are open.

The long-awaited Gateway Expressway is set to open to drivers on Friday, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
